How much is Mold Remediation? FAQs answered by a Baltimore Mold Remediater

Wednesday, November 21st, 2012

While often ignored by homeowners and business owners, shrugged off as a fuzzy annoyance on their walls or ceilings, mold can be a very dangerous organism. It not only attacks your building or home, slowly eating away at building materials, but mold can also negatively affect the health of your family, employees, or customers/clients. Some common health issues attributed to mold include:

  • Memory lapses
  • Fatigue
  • Digestive problems
  • Chronic aches and pains
  • Irritation of the eyes, nose, throat and skin
  • Sinus infections and sinusitis
  • Skin rashes
  • Upper and lower respiratory infections
  • Headaches
  • And more!

The key to avoiding the above issues is to deal with any mold outbreak in a timely manner. This will not only keep your home and family safe, but will also dramatically cut down on the cost of mold remediation. Conversely, the longer you wait to deal with mold, the longer the organism has to grow and infest your home, and the more money you will need to shell out for mold remediation and renovations.

And in case you were thinking you could save a few dollars by cleaning up your mold problem on your own…don’t. The only way to ensure mold has been completely removed from your home is to hire a professional mold remediation company.

So how much does mold remediation cost?

Well, that all depends on how quickly you address the mold problem in your home or business! So if you find any warning signs of mold, do not hesitate to call a mold inspection and remediation professional immediately.

A disaster, like fire, flooding, and mold, is something that every homeowner dreads. Unfortunately, most homeowners will have to deal with at least one of these situations at one time or another. Do you know what to do if you ever become the unfortunate victim of a disaster?

It is also important to not take on any cleanup tasks yourself, especially if you do not know the water’s origin.

1. Clean Water: Coming from a leaky roof or broken water pipe, this type of water does not typically present any health risks.

2. Dirty Water: Coming from dishwashers, washing machines, over flowing toilets, and the like, this type of water may require antimicrobial treatment to mitigate any health risks.

3. Severely Contaminated Water: Coming from flooding or broken sewer lines, this type of water is extremely dangerous to one’s health.

Fire & Smoke Damage: As you can imagine, fire damage can be severe, decimating anything in its path. But what many homeowners do not realize is that smoke damage can be just as, if not more devastating. While fire damage is typically contained to a certain area of the home, the smoke finds its way throughout your home, seeping into structural materials.

If left untreated, both fire damage and smoke damage can lead to health problems.

Mold: Mold remediation is important to not only eliminate the overbearing, musty smell from your basement and potential structural damage, but also to keep your family safe and healthy.
